So are you saying YouTube is the new McDonald's of video???
Admin Comment by Admin on October 9, 2009 at 1:42pm
The big news today (besides bombing the moon and the Obama Peace Prize!) is the announcement that YouTube has hit the impressive milestone of one billion videos served a day. (first posted on Chad Hurley's blog this a.m.) This, of course, raises other questions mostly around the benefits of exposure vs. what one pundit refers to as the 'sinkhole of cash.' There are lots of opinions far and wide between lingering copyright issues, ad models and more.

We have posted a variety of industry takes on this in our groups today and would love to hear what you think as well.

Worldwide Twestival Hits LA at LATwestival 2009!

Webcastr's Tim Devine hanging out with Efren Toscano and Erin Darling from @techzulu.

#LATwestival hit Hollywood as part of the three-day global local Twestivals worldwide. This event was held at the Level 3 club, part of the Hollywood and Highland dining and shopping complex adjacent to the world famous Kodak Theatre (home of the Academy Awards). The event raised money for two great local charities - the LA Food bank and the Chrysalis Group - both helping economically disadvantaged individuals get back on their feet. A good time was had by all.

Feel free to forward this album (or Twitter-link to it) to any of your friends who may have missed the big night!

Cheers!

Ilya.. I went on FF after I read your comment on here. I never knew you could do live chats on there! I somehow got in a chat last nite with a group from Philly and it was great. I'm just not sure yet how to do it again. Any ideas???

So I saw that FriendFeed's traffic spiked right before the Facebook deal, but why? Could it be that people are now using it for real time updates much like Twitter? They only added that feature recently I know.

And is Facebook buying it to have their own Twitter -like product? What does everyone else on here think? I'd be curious..

Boxee Hints at a Revenue Strategy

Despite raising more than $10 million over two rounds of funding, Boxee (somewhat famously) has yet to bring in any revenue. But that could change as early as next year, according to CEO Avner Ronen.

But the real interesting part came when Ronen was asked about Boxee's current revenue stream and future revenue plans. Ronen says that the company still has yet to collect any revenue for use of its media center software, but that it's working on a way to allow content owners to charge for the Boxee Apps that they create. more...

Gear Head Comment by Gear Head on August 21, 2009 at 6:14am
