It was only last week that JVC dropped three new Everio camcorders on us, after nearly six months of quiet times. Today's Everio GZ-HD620, which was announced in Japan first, is the world's smallest HD HDD camcorder.
Weighing only 270g, it's also the lightest. The HDD has 120GB of storage for you to fill up with 1080p videos of your dog, and the sensor is a 1/4.1" 3.32-megapixel CMOS job. 30x optical zoom and 200x digital zoom, you can playback footage on the 2.7-inch LCD screen or upload easily to YouTube thanks to the quick upload function. A microSD/SDHC slot, USB and HDMI ports round the camcorder, which measures 53 x 63 x 115mm, off nicely.
Available in Japan from tomorrow in black, red and silver colorways, we should see more of the GZ-HD620 come January at CES. [Akihabara News]
Here's an idea—why don't we round up every trance act and send them all into space? So we never have to hear that incessant doof doof noise any more. Let's hope Richard Branson agrees.
Trance "act" Above & Beyond DJed in the Mojave desert yesterday for Branson's SpaceShipTwo event, and are so desperate to see space, they've asked if they can join the ride. Hailing from the UK, Above & Beyond certainly sound space-nutty, sampling Buzz Aldrin in one of their tracks.
Boasting to NME, one of the trancers, Jono Grant, said:
"We're big fans of all things space-related and so in terms of dream gigs, this is up there alongside our performance in Rio to one million people"
Branson, how about forgetting the whole 'space passenger fights' thing and turning SpaceShipTwo into an intergalactic anti-Noah's Ark? [Above & Beyond NME via TechRadar]
HTC will be launching the same phone under two names—Bravo in the US, and Passion in Europe, according to new leaks. Only trouble is, it doesn't look much like the Passion we know and love, does it?
Despite the difference in appearance, the Bravo/Passion sounds hot to trot, running on lovely, lovely Android 2.0, and a Snapdragon QDS 1GHz CPU.
Ai.rs has got the exclusive pics-and-info prize, claiming the screen is a 3.7-inch capacitive AMOLED (in contrast to the 3.5-incher previous pics had it at), the camera is a 5.0-megapixel AF job which can handle 720p video recording, and there's a 1400mAh battery—which is the only real downside to this otherwise terrific-sounding Passion/Bravo. Bravssion? Passvo?
Whatever it is, the US launch has been delayed until January, with the European launch slated for April. [Digitimes and Ai.rs]
Sony's pulling a switcheroo on its customers, rebranding its "eBook Store" as "Reader Store" (see what they did there? Err...) but more importantly, changing formats from BBeB to EPUB. This is a surprising step forward for the proprietary-loving Sony.
Undoubtedly you would've battled Sony's formats in the past, so know what I'm referring to. The big change happens this Friday, with all books downloadable in the open EPUB format only. The third cherry on Sony's big surprise cake this week is that the Reader Library 3.1 software will also become available on Friday, bringing both Mac and PC support—head's up, Snow Leopard and Windows 7 users. Hey, office drones. The next time you're pissed and shivering because Jeff in accounting turned the thermostat down to 65 again, just show him this article: Turns out individual climate control units in cubicles can save up to 50% energy.
It seems pretty obvious, really: There's no reason to cool down the hallways, corridors, entrances and lobbies if you spend all your time in a cube, so why not restrict climate control to places where people actually work? Hell, they even tried it in Singapore, where the weather is definitely worse than Scranton, PA; Slough, England; or wherever Office Space was filmed, and it cut energy costs right in half. Bring that up to Jeff, the next time he tries to lower the temperature enough to freeze your coffee. [New Scientist]

PS, We like the way you look, and we know that being Mono Optic doesn't mean you've got tunnel visionOurs is not a political view, it is a view of what can be seen, there is no subdefuge as is often involved in politics. of course this is the famous Baobab tree that grows in Africa.
Famous because they get very old and have there roots in the air, as it seems. I love this tree because it represents the forces of nature for me plus make me feel humble as a human being.
My personal picture you can see on several other sites so I have nothing to hide.
Wish you a nice weekend.
